Procedure

To a secondary vessel, add phase A and start mixing. Slowly add phase B to phase A with continued mixing. Heat AB to 85°C. With mixing, add phase C to phase AB, then add phase D to ABC. Before combining the oil and water phases, add phase E to ABCD. Mix well. To the main vessel, add the water of phase F, start mixing, add the Disodium EDTA, then add the xanthan gum. Heat this phase to 80°C. When the contents of both vessels are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add ABCDE to F with prop mixing. Homogenize for 3 minutes and resume prop mixing. Start cooling and when batch is below 45°C, then add premix of phase G with mixing. Add phase H with mixing. Replace any water lost to evaporation and mix batch until smooth and at desired filling temperature.

Properties

(25°C): Appearance—Beige smooth lotion; Viscosity 20 rpm, Brk, RVDV II+, T-D, after 24h at room temperature, mPa∙s): 5400 – 9000; pH: 5.5-6.5.
